Privacy Policy
Last updated: 3 July 2026 · Applies to the Auction Bid Calculator Chrome extension and bidcalculator.co.uk
1. Who we are
Auction Bid Calculator is operated by Pricing Logic Ltd ("we", "us"), a company registered in England and Wales. We are the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. Contact: support@bidcalculator.co.uk.
2. What the extension does with data
Data that stays on your device
- Calculation inputs and history — bid amounts, costs, settings and your calculation history are stored locally in your browser (
chrome.storage.local). They are never transmitted to us. - Auction page content — on supported auction sites the extension reads the lot's commission rate and hammer price from the page you're viewing, purely to pre-fill the calculator. This happens in your browser; page content is not sent to our servers.
Data we process on our servers
| Data | When | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Email address and a unique account ID | When you sign in (via Clerk) | To operate your account and apply your monthly free allowance |
| Amazon lookup count per month | When you use the Amazon Fees feature | To meter the free tier (10 lookups/month) and provide Pro's unlimited access |
| Product identifiers (ASINs) you look up | When you use the Amazon Fees feature | Forwarded to our market-data provider (Keepa) to fetch fees and pricing; results are cached briefly on our servers to reduce costs. ASINs identify products, not you |
| Subscription status and Stripe customer reference | If you subscribe to Pro | To grant and manage your Pro entitlement |
3. What we do NOT collect
- No card or bank details — payment is handled entirely by Stripe; card data goes directly to Stripe and never touches our servers.
- No browsing history — the extension's content script runs only on bidspotter.co.uk, bidspotter.com and i-bidder.com, and only to power the calculator on the page you have open.
- No advertising identifiers, no data sales, no third-party analytics or tracking cookies on this website.
4. Chrome permissions, explained
| Permission | Used for |
|---|---|
storage | Saving your settings and calculation history on your device |
activeTab / scripting | Opening the calculator sidebar when you click the toolbar icon |
identity | Running the sign-in window (Chrome's secure auth flow) |
| Host access to the three auction sites | Showing the sidebar and reading the commission % on lot pages |
| Host access to api.bidcalculator.co.uk | Talking to our own backend for Amazon lookups, sign-in and rate tables |
5. Our processors
We share data only with the service providers needed to run the product, under their own GDPR-compliant terms:
- Clerk (clerk.com) — sign-in and account management (processes your email)
- Stripe (stripe.com) — payments and subscription billing
- Cloudflare — hosting for our backend and this website (UK/EU edge infrastructure)
- Keepa (keepa.com) — Amazon market data (receives only the product ASIN you look up)
6. Retention
- Account data: kept while your account is active; deleted within 30 days of a deletion request.
- Usage counts: rolling monthly counters, retained up to 24 months for support and fraud prevention.
- Cached market data: hours, not days.
- Local data on your device: yours — clear it anytime by removing the extension or clearing its storage.
7. Your rights (UK & EU GDPR)
You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data; object to or restrict processing; and request portability. Email support@bidcalculator.co.uk and we'll respond within one month. You can also complain to the ICO (ico.org.uk) if you're unhappy with how we've handled your data.
8. Children
The service is not directed at children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
9. Changes
If we make material changes to this policy we'll update this page and the "last updated" date, and flag significant changes in the extension. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
